Given Eczodex's lack of formalized assets at the beginning of the Techstars's accelerator, I was tasked with designing the essential experiences and resources that the team would need to continue fundraising, engage with customer and partners, and drive their product forward.
I took extensive notes during conversations with the founders, Techstars's mentors, and other subject matter experts that illuminated ways to connect traditional financial markets to their decentralized counterparts. Below are notes and wireframes related to the design of Eczodex's core product (web app), which required a strong understanding of how to convey this new financial experience to semi-experienced investors. Notes from other deliverables are not included.
Enabling access to traditional capital by leveraging decentralized finance can be a hard concept to explain, and an even harder concept to visually represent. In order to help the Eczodex team convey their ideas to investors, supporters, and customers, I designed an interactive Figma prototype that demonstrates the relationships between each element of their system. Make it full-screen and play around with it (hover, click, etc.)!
The first iteration of the web app leaned heavily into empowering sophisticated and active users who may be actively managing their portfolio.
Feedback from prospective users on the first iteration led to the development of the second iteration of the web app, which was ultimately shipped. V2 reduces cognitive load on users by progressively disclosing their account details and actions.
I also designed a prototype for a lightweight companion mobile app for the main web application.
I designed an landing page that included an interactive portfolio component to enable prospective users to quickly grasp the value add of Eczodex.
This experience challenged me to dive deeper into the intricacies of centralized and decentralized financial markets in a way that I had not yet done. Although I had worked on multiple web3 projects prior to Eczodex, the lack of established assets required me to start my process on a conversational level by first exploring the brilliant minds of the founders, Michael and Lukas. This actually turned out to be surprisingly helpful, as I could not make any assumptions and had to ask any questions that came to mind. The result was typically in-depth discussion about core motivations by financial institution and retail investors, advancements in blockchain technology that enabled this new economy to exist, or some other tangential topic. In the end, I was reminded of the importance of asking questions, no matter how self-explanatory or simple they may seem.
During and after the engagement, I was made aware of how impactful the designs had been in conveying the value proposition, functionality, and user experience to stakeholders, financial institutions, investors, and customers.
